So here is a potential dilemma coming my way that I should figure out before it actually happens.
I'm happy with night shift. I feel like it works well with my lifestyle. I like only having to work every other week. I like having time at work to do whatever I like for a few hours. I like having total dominion over an entire department. I don't have to work during church although I'm exhausted through it every other week. The sleeping during the day thing doesn't bother me.
Rumor has it that a day shift position may be opening up in the next few months. It would be REALLY early, like 4:30 am sort of early every morning which sounds appalling. Day shift would let me be more involved with lab studies, meetings, have more unique testing experiences since a lot of tests are just left for the day shifters, etc. I'd be busier. I'd have to train interns. I'd have to work one Sunday a month although they do have sacrament meetings at the hospital. I'd have less travel time (though concentrated more around the weekends which would be nice, and with enough PTO I might actually get to Europe). However, a big perk would be if I ever got married I'd have a schedule that would be more convenient... I don't know when another day shift will open up again....
What are your thoughts reader?
Jill that sounds like a great opportunity. Both Lori and I think you should take advantage of it.
