Some of you may doubt the severity of UWAGS in Utah. You ask how can UWAGS really effect me? Well, you see some guy and he keeps winking at you and the first thought to cross your mind is "Oh, is he flirting with me?" You begin assessing the situation and then you find out the truth of the matter. He's married. He's engaged. He is winking at anyone female before and after he makes any joke. It may seem harmless enough if a single man is interested in a single girl but its quite another matter if you're at a wedding reception and the groom is winking at you while his fiance is standing next to him talking to her old roommate. 78% of these young men have no knowledge of their disorder or the fact that it scares away some women and confuses others.
If you or a loved one is suffering from UWAGs, there is hope. You can join a support group WA (Winker's Anonymous) or have someone classically condition you to stop winking (aka squirt you with a squirt gun over and over everytime you wink). If that doesn't work... well, I guess the rest of us will just have to start winking back until you realize how ridiculous all this winking is. ; P
