KaeRn

I ought to be sleeping or taking care of that to do list I mentioned in the previous entry, but I'm going to finish watching a movie I started, write this entry, and then probably go to bed... probably.

Well, today when I was running errands I came across one of the most beautiful sites of summer: A Sweet Corn Stand. Being from Minnesota, I'm kind of a corny person (har har har). But really, corn is a big deal. I passed this water tower to and from school and church on a regular basis growing up.

Growing up, we ate a lot of corn on the cob and for a few summers, my brothers and my best friend and her brothers all worked in pick up trucks selling corn by the side of the road. As a result, we ate EVEN MORE fresh corn and I discovered, with the help of Deseret, that it is best raw. Be a skeptic if you will, but fresh candy corn is way better than other corn, just in the same way snap peas are way better than the reheated peas most of us find in the frozen food section. During the summer everything needs to be barbequed or eaten cool, crisp, and fresh. Its more summery, plus its easier to eat when its cool. Then you don't have to worry about hot corn water dripping down your arm or scalding your finger tips.

The only other way to REALLY eat corn is to slather it in butter and chili powder, rehusk it, and barbeque it. I only found out about it this last summer, but it is divine. Its just the way they eat in Nacho Libre. I can't believe Jack Black would do something like this... What a waste of corn.
