Happiness

Here are a few things that have made me happy this week.

-Decorating for Christmas. I cut out a bunch of paper snowflakes. I found it surprisingly therapeutic and the snowflakes look lovely on our balcony door now.

-Sewing snuggies. Yeah, you already knew I was a little crazy so this shouldn't be a surprise. They're turning out rather nice so hopefully the recipients of my gifts will really enjoy them.

-Finding the last mistletoe in Utah County. You may doubt that mistletoe is REALLY sold out. Just try. Christina and I went to JoAnn Fabrics, Michaels, and Hobby Lobby only to discover they'd been sold out at least a week. The Christmas Tree stand across the street sold us the LAST of their mistletoe.

-Good music. Today when I was cooking I listened to my grooveshark favorites station and it really lifted my spirits. I think I ought to have more of it in my life.

-Annie, Maren and Aaron Dennis' little girl. On the way to book group we played peekaboo and with some blank label stickers I'd been using as a bookmark. She is a rather content, peaceful child with lovely blue eyes and it made me happy when I got her laugh.

-I made Christmas Dinner for my roommates today and it turned out to be a success. I sometimes wonder if I'll be able to fill the boots of someone else mother's cooking but today I proved to myself that I could at least cook my mom's traditional Christmas dinner. The only thing that didn't turn out were the rolls (which were crispy on the bottom) and everyone ate most of them anyways.

-We went to see the Christmas lights in SLC today. I love looking at the all the trees and wondering how many lights are in each one. In our own way, we're all like the each of the little bulbs on a string. Each one glows its own color, some glow brighter than other, but those details don't matter too much. So long as we don't let our light burn out, we contribute to a picture more brilliant and beautiful than we can see from our lonely tree branch.

-Roommates of past and present. I've seen a lot of the previous 55 roommies this weekend and a lot of my current roommates tonight. They always make me see the best in myself and seem to love me in spite of my odd quirks and crazy mannerisms. I would wrestle a bear for them.
