People keep posting it and I decided that I'd come up with a summary of how I feel about it:
I have a testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ which teaches that marriage is between a man and a woman. It also teaches that we shouldn't drink, smoke, have premarital sex... lots of things that the average "non mormon" probably isn't doing. I love my friends and family, all of them. That's including those who aren't mormon and those who are gay. Many of them are living kinder, more genuine, more Christian lives than people I know who claim to be mormon. I feel the gospel is the greatest source of joy in my life. I know its true. However its the path I've chosen and I would be frustrated if someone forced me to live a life I felt was wrong. I think all of us deserve the right to discover our own path.
I think the government should do what is necessary to protect the rights of Gay couples. However, our nation was founded on the principle of separation of church and state. I would disagree with any legislation that would force a religion to perform a marriage ceremony that goes against their basic doctrines.
That's it, simple and sweet. As long as the government can come up with a way to protect religion, then let the gay people be married. Whether or not they have the word marriage, they'll keep loving each other and be just as gay as they are now.
